Heller An Shapiro has officially retired from her position as Executive Director. The ArtStream staff wants to thank Heller An for her compassionate and visionary leadership! She will be dearly missed.

A message from Heller An:

Dear ArtStream Community,

I am writing to you – Families, Teaching Artists, ArtStreamers, Partners, and Staff – to let you know I plan to retire from ArtStream on June 30, 2023 in order to spend more time with my family. After seven years at ArtStream, this carefully planned transition follows collaborative discussions with the Board of Directors. As always, the Board and I are committed to doing what is best for ArtStream.

I have been incredibly fortunate to work with dedicated and generous board and family members, ArtStreamers, and Teaching Artists to create fabulous performances and engaging classes. I look forward to seeing each of the 2022-23 season’s shows and being in the audience for performances in future years. I will always cherish the joy of seeing ArtStreamers take the lead and shine brightly in classes, rehearsals, Super Social Saturdays, and at the ArtStream Gala.

I am truly grateful for the many wonderful people who collaborated with me to make ArtStream stronger and better, especially our co-founders, dedicated staff team, our talented Teaching Artists, strong partner organizations, and most importantly, caring families and amazing ArtStreamers. Your many contributions, both financial and creative, strengthen ArtStream and are the reason the Board and I can confidently plan for ArtStream’s transition to the next Executive Director.

I am grateful for all that we accomplished and the many challenges we overcame in pursuit of ArtStream’s vital mission. It is a privilege to lead ArtStream and work for an organization that makes a difference every single day. ArtStream is well positioned to welcome a new leader at this time. I am committed to making the rest of this season the best it can be and to working with the board and staff team to complete a smooth transition to the next Executive Director.

With deep gratitude and appreciation,

Heller An
