ArtStream: Why do you think ArtStream’s mission is important?

Catie-Reagan: What first drew me to apply for this position at ArtStream was the mission. Theatre is an incredible medium to celebrate individuality and build community. By offering a platform for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to showcase their talents and be themselves, ArtStream challenges societal perceptions and advocates for greater diversity and representation.

ArtStream: What is the biggest lesson you learned while working at ArtStream?

Catie-Reagan: The transformative power of inclusion and the profound impact of theatre has been an incredible lesson for me. Additionally, when a community is built on understanding, empathy, and shared passion, it can be a powerful force for fostering individual growth and collective well-being.

ArtStream: What is one of your most heartwarming memories at ArtStream?

Catie-Reagan: For me, it has to be the first ArtStream performance I attended in-person. The defining moment came during a solo performance by an actor who faced significant communication challenges. Instead of spoken words, they communicated through a carefully choreographed combination of gestures, expressions, and movements. The audience found themselves captivated by the sheer beauty and power of this form of expression. ArtStream performances are not just plays; they are a celebration of individuality, a triumph over perceived limitations, and a testament to the potential within every person, regardless of ability.

ArtStream: If you could give one last word of encouragement to the ArtStreamers, what would it be?

Catie-Reagan: Don’t shy away from expressing yourself authentically—let your voice be heard! Your voice has the potential to create powerful connections and leave a lasting impact both on the stage and in the hearts of your audience. So, step onto the stage with confidence, knowing that your presence is not just welcomed, but essential in shaping the beautiful mosaic of the theatrical world.
