Meet Shea Martin, ArtStream’s new database coordinator!

We are thrilled to welcome Shea Martin to the ArtStream team! Shea’s database experience includes recording and updating patient information and research data at Baylor University Hospital in Texas and processing payments at various jobs. She honed her customer service skills at Wine and Design and Muse Paint Bar. Shea has a BA in Fine Arts in Studio Art from The University of Mary Washington. She is continuing her studies to obtain a Master’s degree that combines art and science.

We asked Shea a few questions to get to know her better.

ArtStream: What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Shea: Knowing that there is an opportunity to see the world from a new perspective each day is what gets me out of bed. However, my cat laying on top of me screaming for food is also usually a pretty good reason to get out of bed in the morning.

ArtStream: Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Shea: I am an early bird, without a doubt!

ArtStream: What is your proudest career moment and why?

Shea: My proudest career moment was when I was working with children with autism and got to witness one of the nonverbal students speak for the first time.

ArtStream: What energizes you at work?

Shea: What energizes me at work is knowing that the work I am doing is helping make other people’s lives easier.

ArtStream: What attributes of ArtStream excite you the most?

Shea: I am most excited about ArtStream’s passion for inclusion and community. I am thrilled to be a part of a company that sees value in diversity and has created a space for those with different abilities to use their skills.

ArtStream: Who has influenced you the most when it comes to how you approach your work?

Shea: The individual who has had the greatest impact on my work approach is one of my previous sculpture professors. Her mentorship and guidance taught me how to approach my work objectively, always considering an outside perspective. She instilled in me a strong work ethic and emphasized the significance of practice, persistence, and attention to detail, not only in the studios but also in my work outside of the classroom.

ArtStream: What is your favorite play or musical?

Shea: My favorite musical currently is The Greatest Showman.
