Meet Bethany Hoffman, ArtStream’s new theatre and events manager!

ArtStream is thrilled to welcome Bethany Hoffman as our new Theatre & Events Manager!

Bethany’s most recent position was as a Coordinator and Standardized Patient Educator for area medical schools, including University of Maryland, Georgetown University, Howard University, and Johns Hopkins University. A Patient Educator acts as a patient so medical students can practice diagnosing and relating to their future patients. The “patient” also provides constructive criticism to the student doctors.

Bethany is passionate about theatre and has experience with all aspects of theatre, including scriptwriting, set construction and painting, stage management, props, costumes, make-up, and costume shop organizing. She has performed at many local theatres, including Woolly Mammoth, Studio, Arena Stage, Source Theatre, Baltimore Shakespeare, and Center Stage, Baltimore. Her film and TV credits include The Wire, and TLC/Discovery Channel. Bethany has a BA in Theatre/Acting from Towson University.

We chatted with Bethany to get to know her!

ArtStream: What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Bethany: My 2 dogs, Lola and Griffin, and cat, Freddie. Freddie is a rescue from 2020. Our dog found her under our deck!

ArtStream: Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Bethany: Hoot hoot, I am a night owl. Except when I am on vacation, then, I love to see the sunrise!

ArtStream: What is your proudest career moment and why?

Bethany: I am also an actor. I got my first speaking part in The Wire. It enabled me to join SAGAftra.

ArtStream: What energizes you at work?

Bethany: Positivity and a good joke. I know when to be serious, but a silly joke always brightens my day.

ArtStream: What attributes of ArtStream excite you the most?

Bethany: Getting to see the art! This is a huge community of supportive and talented people. I can’t wait to see what they create!

ArtStream: Who has influenced you the most regarding how you approach your work?

Bethany: My husband, Domenic. Coming from an arts background, I was not as business savvy as I should have been. He has really helped me figure what I have a love of AND what pays the bills!

ArtStream: What is your favorite play or musical?

Bethany: Play: The Birthday Party, by Harold Pinter. I fell in love with dialects performing in that play. Musical: Hamilton.
