Big News!

Theatre Consortium of Silver Spring, Inc. is proud to announce its contract award by Montgomery County to operate the Silver Spring Black Box Theater beginning July 1, 2014. The Consortium is composed of four Silver Spring based Arts organizations: Lumina Studio Theatre, Artstream, Forum Theatre, and Live Garra Theatre. Thanks to everyone who has given their support to this proposal.

In the press:

“In a New Theatre Consortium, Forum Will Stay in Silver Spring”

Washington City Paper, June 9, 2014

“The consortium has signed a five-year lease with the county. Forum’s new partners have all used the space as renters, and they share a mission for cultural diversity and community outreach: Lumina through theater training programs for children and teens, Live Garra through an expansion of African-American theater in the county, and ArtStream through classes for adults with developmental disabilities. The consortium is ‘certainly an extension of what Forum already does,’ says [Forum Artistic Director, Michael] Dove.”

What does this mean for ArtStream?

ArtStream’s Silver Spring Inclusive Companies will continue to perform at the Silver Spring Black Box Theater as they have for the past eight years.

One of ArtStream’s core tennants has always been to bring the arts to our clients where they are. Consortium managment of this theatre space ensures that Downtown Silver Spring may continue to be a place where local performing artists thrive!

Theatre Consortium of Silver Spring (TCSS) is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit. ArtStream will pay rental fees for use and serve on the Board of Directors for the Consortium. TCSS will NOT receive funding support from ArtStream.
