Three actors stand on stage with National Endowment for the Arts logo

ArtStream’s First-ever NEA Grant!

ArtStream is the proud recipient of a $10,000 Challenge America Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). This grant will support ArtStream’s inclusive theatre companies.

In its first funding round for FY16, the NEA has distributed more than $27.6 million to arts organizations in various categories. The Challenge America category supports projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Challenge America grants are comparatively small investments that have a big impact in their communities.

NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, “The arts are part of our everyday lives – no matter who you are or where you live – they have the power to transform individuals, spark economic vibrancy in communities, and transcend the boundaries across diverse sectors of society. Supporting projects like the one from ArtStream offers more opportunities to engage in the arts every day.”

ArtStream is extremely grateful to be counted among the organizations with a unique focus that are supported by the NEA.

ArtStream’s inclusive theatre companies create original musicals that feature adult actors with and without disabilities. The unique process of brainstorming, improvisation, and development gives all actors ownership in their roles and makes for productions unlike any other! ArtStream’s Spring 2016 season will see seven of these incredible, original musicals. If you have never seen an inclusive theatre musical, now is the time – Find performances on our calendar
