March 11, 2020

The news about the coronavirus is developing rapidly. The best source of information is the CDC and our local state governments.  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

A new fact sheet on the CDC website recommends frequent handwashing, limiting physical contact, and avoiding large gatherings. Most importantly, people who are sick – or have been in contact with someone who is sick – should stay home.

At this time, we plan to move ahead with the three Alexandria Inclusive Theatre Company performances planned for March 12-14, 2020. We are cancelling the performances planned for March 19-21, 2020.

Some classes or rehearsals may take a two-week break. Your teacher will contact you if your class is being rescheduled. This will be determined based on classroom location, class size, and CDC recommendations.

What you can do:

  • If you are coughing or feverish – or have been around someone who is exhibiting any of these symptoms – DO NOT come to class, rehearsal or a performance
  • When you arrive at the class, rehearsal or performance location, please wash and/or sanitize your hands
  • Do not share food or drinks

What ArtStream can do:

  • We will not let you into a classroom and will send you home if you are coughing or feverish
  • We will remind you to wash your hands when you arrive at a class or rehearsal
  • In rehearsals, we will limit use of props and other shared items, and will regularly wipe them down with disinfectant
  • In classes and rehearsals, we will try to keep several feet of space between you and other people, and limit handholding or other physical contact

The Lee Center auditorium is large enough for audience members to leave space between themselves and others. The rehearsal rooms are also large enough to provide space between actors. Props and high touch areas will regularly be wiped down with disinfectant.

  • We will honor tickets for any performance date at the March 12-14 performances. If you would like to donate unused tickets back to ArtStream, or you would like to request a refund, please contact Abby Madden at a.madden@art-stream.org Please allow 3 weeks for refunds to be processed.
  • The sign language interpretation is now scheduled for the March 14, 2020 performance.
  • The talk-back will be held on March 14, 2020.

We will continue to take precautions and follow local government recommendations and will update you if anything changes.

Sincerely,

Heller An Shapiro, Executive Director
