The Children's Inn at NIHInteractive Storytelling at The Children's Inn at NIH

Since 2008, ArtStream has brought interactive storytelling to children and their families living at The Children's Inn at The National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Through these educational and fun creative drama sessions, Inn residents have the opportunity to travel to far-off lands and times where they become players in the story. Character hats and costume pieces, masks, props and puppetry make the narrative come alive.  A wide array of musical instruments lend atmosphere to a far-reaching tale of exploration and adventure.

Stories are chosen for their capacity to engage and empower participants, build community, inspire wonder and promote joy.  Sessions may also be tailored to requested themes.

This storytelling program has been spotlighted in the Children's Inn Spring 2010 newsletter Innspirations.

"Through this wonderful medium, Inn residents are given the opportunity to experience empowerment and connect with heroes and heroines from traditional and cross-cultural tales."
