Nicolette Stearns

Nicolette Stearns has been a local Actor, Director, Playwright and Theatre Educator for over 20 years. Nicolette is a Co-founder of ArtStream and currently serves as a Director of ArtStream’s Inclusive Acting Company in Gaithersburg. Nic is also leading ArtStream’s partnership with ARC of Montgomery County; teaching poetry and movement classes of special needs adults. She is also spearheading ArtStream’s one on one social skills training program for special needs clients. Nic also leads the ArtStream mentor program.

Nic has taught and or directed at Montgomery College, Imagination Stage, Round House, City of Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Recreation, George Mason University, and Black Rock Center for the Arts among others. She is an original member of the Professional Acting Company at Imagination Stage. She played a scooter-riding star in the well received ARTSTREAM production of The Arkansaw Bear. She has also done local commercials and character work at various corporate functions playing a story-telling witch to a 1960 flight attendant. She received the Best Actress award at the Maryland state theatre festival for "Seascape with Sharks and Dancer".

Nicolette directed "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and an original, updated version of "A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream" at Kingsview Middle School. She will be directing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" there this spring.

Nicolette holds a Master's Degree in Education from George Mason University. She is a proud member of the Leadership Montgomery 2010 Core Class.
