Ellen Cooper

Ellen Cooper is a physician who has worked for over 20 years to help pharmaceutical and biotech companies develop new drugs, first at the FDA, as a senior executive in several drug companies, as a consultant, and as the clinical director at a non-profit foundation funding and implementing community based research in AIDS.

She has twenty-five year old triplets and a twenty-two year old daughter with Down Syndrome who has participated in BAPA's accessibility programs for 10 years and is now a member of the ArtStream Gaithersburg Inclusive Theatre Company.

Ellen has served on the Steering Committe and then the Board of Directors of Potomac Community Resources (PCR), a non-profit group that provides programming for individuals with developmental differences in the greater Potomac area. She is also heavily involved in Special Olympics (as is her daughter) and is the head coach for the cross country ski team.

In her spare time, Ellen likes to play sports (running, soccer, sailing, skiing), attend opera and ballet performances at Kennedy Center and elsewhere, and travel far and wide.
