Cynthia Kuan
Cynthia Kuan holds a Masters degree in Theatre from Arizona State University. She wrote her thesis on the healing power of theatre, and published numerous articles in conferences and the Performance Research Journal.
Cynthia is passionate about bringing theatre’s healing power to underprivileged communities. She has managed an arts-based day program in Los Angeles for adults with profound developmental disabilities. She was also contracted by UCLA Extension to teach an improvisation class for college students with developmental and cognitive disabilities, with an emphasis on social and communication skill development. In addition, she has lead workshops for immigrants in Taiwan, using theatre-of-the-oppressed exercises to help them voice diasporic experience.
Currently, Cynthia is the Assistant Director for the Gaithersburg Inclusive Theatre Company. She is honored and excited to be part of the ArtStream team!
